Computer Problem: Unable to download software into my computer.

Possible Solutions:

  1. Check your Internet security software settings to allow downloads:
  • for Vista & XP; start-control panel-security settings and/or parental controls.
  • If you run a separate firewall program like Norton or Zone Alarm-check those settings as well.

2. Check your IE preferences. In Internet Explorer, go to Tools-Internet Options.

3. Try to install and use another browser program. (Firefox or Safari is what I recommend. Both are free & easy to use.)

If you don’t have either already on your machine and are unable to download files, then:

  • Go to another computer (friend or work pc) and download the browser software-burn to cd or thumb drive-then take cd & install on original computer. This will allow you to download files through a new browser as a “work around” since your current browser is not functioning properly.
  • Download Firefox Browser-Standalone Versions (can be burned to cd or saved to a thumb drive)
  • Safari-Standalone versions can be found using Apple Support Downloads Page (a super useful archive)
